scarlet rose.

yes- that’s my real name.

a little bit more about me - i am a twenty-two year old college dropout gone full-time photographer. this has been my dream life since I was 10, unwrapping my first camera on Christmas morning.

i’ve always wanted to be an artist. i took dozens of art classes as a kid trying to be the next Picasso or da Vinci. unfortunately, that just wasn’t in the cards for me due to my very limited painting skills. but I couldn’t give up my dream.

i grew up around cameras. my aunt tish is a professional photographer from California, so whenever we had family vacations i would always steal her camera and make my little cousins pose in her backyard. my lovely mom knew her way around a camera and loved documenting my brothers and me growing up. between the two of them i’d learned how to shoot on manual by the ripe age of eight –– you could say they set me up for greatness.

as a freshman in high school, i started taking photos for the school newspaper and yearbook. i was on the sidelines of every football game and pep assembly. i even kept my camera in my backpack so i wouldn’t miss a sunset, an after school basketball practice, or some fun shots with my friends, dancing behind the bleachers. i had claimed my title of the school “camera girl”. that turned into the older kids asking me to take their senior photos which turned into those kids asking me to take their mission photos, engagements, and so on.

i realized being good behind a camera was just in my blood & at the end of the day, i got to do what i’ve always wanted to do. create art. and this time it was so much better because now I got to make people FEEL like art. i wanted to take photos that made you feel the same way an old painting in a museum makes you feel, timeless.
